Scary-Hairy MRSA

There once was a hairy bacillus-
Who came in the lab to kill us
We struck 'im out
Made 'im shout-
What have you done with my pilus!?

(Note -a bacillus is a rod-shaped bacteria.  A pilus is a structure produced by bacteria through which DNA is passed from one bacterial cell to another.  This adaptation is the bacterial mechanism that spreads antibiotic-resistance genes through bacterial populations.  A hairy bacillus has numerous pilli (plural of pilus) that allow the bacterial cells to stick tenaciously to surfaces so that they are very difficult to wash off with soap and water)
